Membership Benefits

  1. A member of the peak advocacy organisation for ALL older people in Tasmania.
  2. An oppurtunity to raise issues and concerns and to have COTA lobby on your behalf.
  3. Quarterly Newsletters; members are encouraged to submit articles of interest or concern and to respond through the 'Letters to the Editor' section.
  4. The opportunity to nominate to the Board of Directors.
  5. The opportunity to vote in the bi-annual Board elections; (due in November 2006).
  6. An invitation to join one of the Policy Hubs, to assist in the development of ongoing policy issues, either of a national or state nature.
  7. Insurance cover through COTA South Australia is currently available by phoning 1300 1300 50.
  8. The possibilty of joining one of our Coalitions of Interest on specific topics of concern to all older Tasmanians; current works in progress:-

    a) Financial matters/self-funded retirees/grandparenting allowances
    b) Elder Abuse
    c) Alternative Housing Options.

  9. Attend COTA seminars on a variety of issues of interest to seniors.
  10. Training courses (ie "All you need to know about computers for the mortally afraid").

Individual and joint membership is offered to any Tasmanian over 50 years of age.
