Living Longer Living Stronger™ is
a strength training program for all older people irrespective of
age or condition, now offered by gymnasiums all over Tasmania.
This program has dramatic benefits for the health of older people.
All the chronic conditions afflicting people as they age – arthritis,
diabetes, cardio-vascular disease, stroke and depression – are
either caused by inactivity or made worse by lack of exercise.
Living
Longer Living Stronger™ is a program
designed and developed in Australia initially by COTA Victoria
and currently operating in New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria,
and Western Australia. This program aims to increase the
range and quality of strength training opportunities for
older people.
By working in partnership with fitness, health and community
centres we have been able to develop and provide a safe and effective
strength training program for older people in a supportive environment. |
